A delegation from the Office of the Auditor General Uganda has concluded the first day of its familiarisation and oversight field visit to Uganda’s oil and gas project areas with inspections of key petroleum infrastructure in the Albertine region.
The team toured Kabalega International Airport in Hoima District, a facility being developed to support the construction and future operations of the country’s oil refinery project.

Officials explained that the airport will serve as a major logistics hub for handling equipment, construction materials, and personnel required for the refinery and other oil and gas activities in the region.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the progress of the airport infrastructure and its strategic importance in supporting Uganda’s petroleum value chain.
The team also visited Pump Station 1 located in Nyamasoga, part of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project.

According to project officials, the pump station will play a critical role in boosting pressure to ensure efficient transportation of crude oil through the pipeline from Uganda to the export terminal in Tanzania.
The oversight visit is aimed at enabling the Auditor General’s office to better understand the progress, management, and accountability mechanisms surrounding Uganda’s strategic oil and gas infrastructure projects.
