Kitara Football Club has expressed appreciation to supporters who turned up in large numbers to watch the team defeat Buhimba Saints FC 4–0 in a derby match held at Hoima City Stadium.
In an appreciation message issued on March 15, 2026, the club thanked fans for their overwhelming support during the match, describing the massive turnout as a testament to the strong backing Kitara FC enjoys across Uganda.
The club noted that players, coaches, staff, and management delivered an outstanding performance that resulted in the convincing victory.
Kitara FC also extended gratitude to several stakeholders who supported the successful hosting of the match. These included the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for what the club described as visionary leadership in championing the establishment of an international stadium in Hoima. The club also recognised the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, for her leadership in the sports sector.
Further appreciation was extended to the State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, the National Council of Sports, and the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, as well as security agencies, media partners, sponsors, and supporters.
The club also acknowledged sponsors including StarTimes and Kinyara Sugar Limited for their continued support to the team and the league.
Regarding safety concerns raised during the match, Kitara FC noted that some fans were seen climbing one of the stadium fences due to the large turnout. However, stewards and security personnel quickly responded and managed the situation, ensuring the stadium was not damaged and that the game remained peaceful and entertaining.
The club promised to improve match-day organisation in future games by increasing ticket availability, expanding ticket-selling points, and improving access to stadium gates before kickoff.
Looking ahead, Kitara FC announced that their next match will be a Round of 16 fixture in the Stanbic Uganda Cup against Bunyaruguru United FC. The match is scheduled to take place at Royal Park Butema on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The appreciation message was signed by the club president, Deo Akiki Kasozi.
