Kawempe, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on residents of Kawempe to reject opposition politicians, saying their leadership often hinders local development.
Speaking during a campaign rally in the constituency, Museveni emphasized the need for leaders who prioritize service delivery, infrastructure, and social programs over political interests. He warned voters against electing representatives whose actions could stall progress in roads, schools, and health services.
“The people of Kawempe deserve leaders who work for development, not those who create obstacles and delays,” Museveni said.
The President’s remarks come as the 2026 general elections approach, with several opposition candidates seeking parliamentary and local government seats in the Kampala suburbs. Analysts say Museveni’s appeal targets voters concerned with tangible community improvements and effective governance.
He also highlighted ongoing government projects in the area and urged Kawempe residents to continue supporting initiatives that foster growth, peace, and stability.
