On Monday, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni concluded his Western Region presidential campaign with a major rally in Kakumiro District, Bunyoro Sub-region, before proceeding later in the evening to Mubende District in the Buganda Sub-region, where he launched the National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaign in the Central Region.

The morning rally in Kakumiro marked the final engagement of the President’s Western Uganda tour. Thousands of residents turned up, underscoring the region’s strong support for the NRM. The President was received by a high-level delegation led by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, district party leaders, CEC members, senior government officials, and local authorities.
Addressing the gathering, President Museveni emphasized peace and security as the foundation of Uganda’s progress, noting that stability has enabled development across Bunyoro. He outlined achievements in roads, electricity, water access, education, and health, and stressed that wealth creation at household level remains the government’s central focus.
He highlighted key initiatives including the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, Operation Wealth Creation, and agricultural modernization programs, urging wananchi to prioritize production over consumption. The President emphasized accountability in the use of public funds, noting that disciplined implementation is essential for improving incomes and strengthening local enterprises.
Kakumiro NRM Chairperson Hon. Fred Byamukama credited the NRM government for restoring peace after years of insecurity and expanding infrastructure across Bunyoro, including tarmacked roads and electricity coverage. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja thanked the President for granting Kakumiro district status, commissioning the district administration block, and prioritizing roads, irrigation schemes, and energy projects. She cautioned against corruption in government programs and called for stronger protection of local producers.

Before concluding the Kakumiro engagement, President Museveni flagged off NRM flag bearers at various levels, urging them to remain close to the people and clearly articulate the party’s message of unity, peace, and wealth creation.
Across the Western Region rallies, the 2nd Vice Chairperson CEC for the Western Region, Hon. Eng. Asiimwe Jonard, consistently emphasized three key messages: safeguarding peace, promoting production-led development, and maintaining unity behind proven leadership. He reiterated that agriculture, value addition, and enterprise are central to national development and urged voters to support continuity by voting for the “Old Man with the Hat.”
The Kakumiro rally was accompanied by performances from artists including Catherine Kusasira, Eddy Kenzo, and Jose Chameleone, adding to the charged atmosphere.
Later in the evening, the President addressed supporters at Kasambya Diocese Playground in Mubende District, officially launching the NRM campaign in the Buganda Sub-region and Central Region. Despite heavy rain, a large crowd turned up, reflecting the significance of the event.

In Mubende, the President was welcomed by the 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) and Head of Mobilization of the NRM CEC, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, the Central Region Vice Chairperson of the NRM CEC, Hon. Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, and the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, along with senior party leaders and government officials.
Addressing the rally, President Museveni reflected on recent electoral history in Buganda, noting that previous losses stemmed from failure to adequately protect the vote. He urged supporters to turn up, vote, and remain vigilant, citing biometric systems as a safeguard against electoral malpractice.

He reiterated the NRM’s commitment to peace, development, and wealth creation, linking Central Region priorities to industrial growth, job creation, and expanded markets for Ugandan products. He stressed that private sector growth and skills development are essential to complement government efforts.
At the close of the Mubende rally, President Museveni flagged off NRM flag bearers for the Central Region, calling on party structures to mobilize effectively and protect the vote.
The rallies in both Kakumiro and Mubende attracted large crowds, highlighting strong support for President Museveni in Western Uganda and growing momentum in Buganda. From Bunyoro to Buganda, the message remained clear: protect peace, focus on production, and sustain leadership that has delivered results.
As the campaign moves from Western Uganda into the Central Region, the engagements in Kakumiro and Mubende set a firm tone centered on continuity, vigilance, and safeguarding national gains while advancing shared prosperity.
