A mammoth crowd on Monday welcomed the NRM flagbearer, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, to Ajai Sports Stadium in Madi-Okollo District for his first campaign rally of the day. The President was accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, and was received by senior government officials and party leaders.
The event attracted thousands of supporters from Madi-Okollo, Arua District, and neighboring areas, who gathered early to catch a glimpse of the NRM leader. The atmosphere was lively, with traditional dancers, youth groups, and cultural troupes entertaining the crowds as they awaited the President’s arrival.
In his address, President Museveni outlined the NRM government’s achievements in sectors such as infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and wealth creation. He reiterated the importance of ongoing government programs, including the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, which aim to uplift households from subsistence farming to commercial production.
The President also called on the people of West Nile to continue supporting the NRM, emphasizing that unity, peace, and stability are the foundation for sustained socio-economic growth. He commended the region for its continued support and pledged to enhance service delivery and investment in key sectors such as roads, electricity, and education.
From Madi-Okollo, President Museveni proceeded to Arua City, where he addressed another grand rally at Arua City Grounds. Thousands of supporters turned up to welcome him, waving NRM flags and chanting party slogans.
The rallies in Madi-Okollo and Arua are part of President Museveni’s campaign tour of the West Nile sub-region, where he is engaging citizens, leaders, and stakeholders to consolidate support for the ruling party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
