The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has extended its continued support to grassroots football by donating 545 Zakayo match balls to clubs participating in the FUFA Regional Leagues across the country.
The handover ceremony took place today at FUFA House in Mengo, and was presided over by Dr. Azah Taibu, FUFA’s 2nd Vice President.
The Zakayo balls were officially handed over to the eight General Secretaries of the Regional Football Associations, who will in turn distribute them to the beneficiary clubs.
According to FUFA, this initiative—approved by the FUFA Executive Committee—has benefited 109 clubs playing in the Regional Leagues, demonstrating the federation’s commitment to supporting lower-tier competitions and improving standards of play.
“This support reflects FUFA’s strategic objective to promote football development at all levels, ensuring that clubs in regional leagues have the necessary equipment to compete effectively,” Dr. Taibu said during the handover.
This season alone, FUFA has provided Zakayo balls worth nearly UGX 200 million to different competitions, including all 16 Uganda Premier League (UPL) clubs, 16 FUFA Big League clubs, and 12 FUFA Women Super League teams.
The federation says the initiative is part of a wider effort to strengthen football structures, promote fair competition, and enhance the quality of the game across all divisions.
