The National Vice Chairperson for NRM, Hon. Eng. Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki, has cautioned the people of Hoima to be wary of selfish politicians who, he said, are more focused on growing themselves than serving the communities that entrust them with leadership.
Speaking to residents at Kaitira Playgrounds in Kihukya Ward during the Ekyoto Community Gathering, Eng. Asiimwe warned that some leaders have become “unapproachable and self-centered”, using voters only as stepping-stones to their personal ambitions. He encouraged the public to remain firm in supporting H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all NRM flag bearers for continued stability and improved service delivery.

The gathering also witnessed a notable shift in political allegiance as several NUP supporters crossed over to the NRM. Eng. Asiimwe warmly received the new members, assuring them of a welcoming and development-minded home within the ruling party.
In his continued efforts to uplift youth through sports, Eng. Asiimwe donated jerseys and balls to Buswekere FC and Kihukya FC through his Jonard Soccer Academy. He pledged additional support for more local clubs and reaffirmed his endorsement of all NRM candidates, including Hon. Donald Bategeka, the Hoima West MP flag bearer, and Hon. Diana Mugenyi, the Hoima City Woman MP flag bearer.

Earlier in the day, Hon. Asiimwe conducted field inspections across Kihukya Ward to monitor agricultural projects under the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other government programmes. One of the key highlights was the farm of Mr. Kanyoro, a disciplined and outstanding PDM beneficiary who has expanded his piggery project to over 160 pigs. His enterprise is further strengthened by a water system installed under MIAAF, which serves both his farm and neighbouring households.

Hon. Asiimwe commended Mr. Kanyoro for his commitment and responsible use of government funds, emphasizing that such success stories reflect the transformative power of government interventions when they reach dedicated beneficiaries.
“When resources are used well, entire communities are uplifted,” he noted.
The day’s activities reinforced Eng. Asiimwe’s commitment to accountability, community empowerment, and the ongoing transformation of Hoima.
